Arriving in South Africa

We left Canada on Dec 29th for a few days in Rome before arriving in South Africa
During our 5 days in Rome we saw many sights and soaked up as much culture as we could in our time. I think you would have to live in Rome for a full year to really appreciate the history of the city.

We arrived in SA on Jan 6th. As always we are grateful each day for the warmth and sunshine of South Africa. Our surroundings are lush, green and flowers are blooming there are birds in abundance. With that comes many creepy crawlers, frogs and an assortment  of small creatures to share your space with.  It has been a pleasure to be at the Hands Village once again and very exciting to re connect with family and friends.

We started our time off with a week of prayer and contemplation of what God is showing us for 2015.  It is going to be an exciting year!

We are leaving for Zambia early next week to prepare for and greet the Canadian construction team arriving early February. Constructions projects will be Brian’s focus this year which is sure to bring with it many challenges of building in a very different way in Africa! I will get plugged in where ever needed which means I will do many different roles throughout our time. This is exciting for me as I look forward to learning as much as I can in as many different fascists as possible this year.
The plan is to be back in South Africa in  March for a period of time. We will be here to welcome the new intake of international volunteers who have made the commitment to Hands at Work for one year. This is always an exciting time.

We look forward to sharing more with you all!
